Las Vegas National: A Cab's Worst Nightmare

Las Vegas National

Las Vegas, NV. — Besides Bali Hai Golf Club, the only other course close enough to the Strip to prevent Taxi cab drivers from robbing you blind is Las Vegas National.

Located 5 - 10 minutes from the Strip, Las Vegas National (LVN) will cost roughly $20-$30 for a round-trip taxi fare.

What a bonus! Playing at LVN allows you to spend more money on the real reason you came to Vegas – to gamble. We won't tell your spouse.

Enough about gambling and trouble with your spouse, and on with golf. LVN is centrally located in Vegas, so it's easily accessible from all parts of town.

Course History
Created in 1961 by Bert Stamps, LVN was first introduced to the public as the stardust Country Club. During the 60s, the course was home course to the famous "Rat Pack," with Frank, Sammy, and Dean honing their skills on LVN.

Having since survived several name and ownership changes, LVN adopted its current name in 1998 and is still running strong after all these years.

PGA Events
The course has also hosted several PGA events throughout its years, witnessing the first championship of golf legend Tiger Woods in 1997.

Course Layout
LVN is a traditional layout, one with trees throughout the holes, gentle moundings, and well-guarded greens. While not as flashy as some higher end courses like Bear's Best and Revere - Lexington, LVN is a good choice if you're trying to save money on golf.

It's also a good choice for golfers of all skill levels. Even beginners can have a good time while trying to break 100.

Enjoy the fact that homes only surround the perimeter of the course! Trying to find a course in Vegas with no homes between the fairways is a tough deal; a rare commodity in the Vegas Valley.

Movie History
Have you watched the great Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci flick "Casino"? When playing at LVN you'll recognize one of the homes near the first tee as the one DeNiro's character lives in during the movie. LVN is the same course the FBI's plane had to land on after spying on him at his home and running out of gas.
