A good portion of the calls we get here at Open Golf Tee Times are from golfers who are looking for our recommendations for course suggestions. When we received these calls, we like to listen to what the guest wants in a course and base our suggestions on the information we collected. It seems like a popular suggestion of ours is the Siena Golf Club and many of our guest will agree Siena is a perfect choice for most golfers coming to Las Vegas.
Siena Golf Club is an above average course located about twenty to twenty-five minutes away from the Strip. The course is located at the base of the Spring Mountains and is in the northwest section of Vegas called Summerlin. The course was designed by Brian Curley and Lee Schmidt and opened to the public in 2000.
The idea of balance was used when Siena was created as golfers will notice the blending of dog legs and straight-away holes, tight and forgiving fairways, and gentle and tough greens throughout their round. Besides the aspect of balance, golfers will also enjoy the Tuscan theme at Siena as it highlights Italian culture and design.
From the back tees, Siena measures out to 6843 yards with a slope of 130 and a rating of 71.5. Although not long when compared to some courses in the Vegas area, Siena is no slouch when it comes to challenges. Throughout the course, golfers will have to contend with a huge amount of bunkers (over 90 bunkers on course), which will make even the pros tremble at the knees.
Although the course may resemble a post-war minefield with all of their bunkers, the higher handicap golfers have no need to worry. Just like the balance concept of Siena, there are numerous plush grassy bail-out areas for wayward shots.
Whether you are a bogey golfer or just a few steps from earning your PGA card, Siena is a perfect choice for a round of golf in Las Vegas. Not only is the course a great desert-style layout but it is very reasonable for the quality you will get in a round of golf.
